My starting SG was injured and missed 2 games. Obviously he didn't make any ratings gains while out for those games. He has been back for two games (started both and played his normal minutes) and still isn't making any gains. I didn't edit his practice plan at all and have heavy minutes in his high potential categories.

Does his health have to be back to 100% before he will improve again?

Just an update. Still no improvement for this player. The only thing that has changed in 3 days is his health has went form 60-72. All other ratings have remained stagnant. He has high-high potential in SPD, PER, BH, and P and is getting 20 minutes of practice time in conditioning and PER. He is also starting and getting just under 20 minutes a game since returning from the injury. Prior to the injury he was improving at a rate of nearly 2 points per day.

Here is the player in question:

Player ratings (and thus improvement) decrease percentagely based on injury level. So, a guy at 100% health improves at his optimal ability just like he plays at 100% of his ratings...but a guy at 60% health improves at 60% just like he performs at 60% of his real ratings. And if you cut any low rating in half...then yeah...

Man, this injury has been a downer. He was on pace to improve 80-90 ratings points on the season.

Downers...nah dog...I give my kids uppers, whizzers, & laughers...but never downers yo.

I should look into that. What is the drug testing policy around here?

where does this come from? an injured player plays at X percent of their ratings? that sounds way to extreme for me, i don't think its really that bad, but its quoted regularly and i have no idea where it started.

but anyway - OP - you are lucky you haven't improved - at 60%, you actually can see ratings go down. well, its just slightly at that point, the lower health numbers with bigger injuries, like 40-50%, you'll definitely see ratings drop. but by like 70% you seem to be treading water and by 80% or so are improving again. that is all just ballpark, meaningful injuries are REALLY rare in this game, i've only had a few in my whole 9 years playing.

Would giving the player another game off increase his rate of healing or is there nothing that can be done about that?

No, players heal at a constant rate whether or not they play.

Well well well, I'll have to try and find were in the WIS cannon this comes from....I thought that was a general accepted notion.

I don't know you can decipher whether or not a guy with a 70 PER is playing at 80 or 70 percent of his capacity, but I goes without saying that it would much easier to pick out 60% examples. So, I don't know what we gain in terms of better understanding this situaution by saying injuries don't really affect players until it reaches a certain point...because its like, duhhhh.
