My player sent me a mixed message and his WE dropped 5. Am I at any risk of losing him after the season?

Coach, I wasn't sure how I'd take being redshirted this season, but to be honest, I'm not thrilled about it, but I understand - I guess.

I just don't think it's cool that you didn't say that I would be looking at a redshirt season when I got here.

minus 5 isn't a huge drop. Guys often will drop +10% of their WE if they're better than a couple other freshmen on the team. Often when one of those two is a walkon.

I don't think you'll risk losing him. I've never seen a freshman leave after this small a WE drop. He'll just improve a bit slower than he would at the original WE.

He won't transfer. Just know the only way to regain the lost WE is through starts and playing time. And as OW said, a drop of 5 isn't bad at all.
