What is the significance of a prospect being selected for the Futures Game? Does this mean the prospect is more than likely a legit prospect in the eye's of the AI? Just curious because I had a couple prospects selected that I wasn't sure if they would be ML caliber down the road.

No significance.

I wouldn't say no significance.

It's based more on projected ratings and age than stats. If you stick 31 yr old in HiA no matter what stats they put up they won't be picked.

I think you're safe to consider it meaning they have a good shot at being ML players. Might be 24-25 man, but they have a shot.

Whose "projected ratings"?

That's a good question, Mike, but tufft may have a point. In Riley world I signed a "big" 18yo IFA SP on August 11. Next day, he had his first pro start at LoA. Two days later, the system put him in the Futures Game. I have zero ADV so my projections aren't good. But, unless he made the FG just because of the signing bonus I gave him, I took it as a good sign.

It's not based off stats(although I don't think I've ever seen one with bad stats). As he said, the player has to be age/level appropriate. This is your guy. Player Profile: Karim Jimenez - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports He's pretty damn good for 18 y/o at LoA. Maybe it's currents. I have trouble believing WifS gives us scouting reports regardless of our ADV by putting players on Futures teams.

Maybe the OP can post the players he didn't think was a real prospect. I've never had one that surprised me.

Maybe it is currents. In a past season, (I'm pretty sure I'm remembering this accurately, but I can't go back and check when it happened) I had a DiTR get into a Futures Game the season after his bump. And of course he was nowhere near the Futures Game before the bump. (Can't post players lately. Brent McClellan on my MG team.)

I kind of think they might be. Not sure WIS thought it all the way though when they changed the logic that determines Futures Game selections a few years back.

That they remove Future Game from Player Awards in prior seasons is a strong indicator they realized they were kind of giving us all 20 ADV for those players.

I could be wrong about all of this.

This will be the 2nd year in a row that he'll be in the FG. I don't think he has a whole lot of growth left to become a good ML regular, so that's why I was curious what others thoughts were on the Futures Game selections. It does seem that most players selected are some of the top prospects in the world from what I've seen so far.

Those are good current ratings for a HiA player.

Nothing about this guy screams "FUTURES GAME" except his stats. 4m IFA, 56 OVR.

Just noticed I have a similar player on that same team, the CF, Martin. Kind of a weak state of the World Futures Team?

9/12/2016 12:23 PM
Could be. Your guy doesn't even have good stats.

Could it not also be impacted by the amount of "World" players in a world? I'm assuming you'd get varying levels of internationals across all worlds. Smaller pool to draw from = worse prospects making the team.
