I feel like there is a lot of overreaction going on here. Yes, the recruiting has fundamentally changed but the majority of the 2.0 style had been around since the game's inception. I feel that no matter what changes were made, people would complain because they were so drastic, and it seems too soon for people to be making such definitive statements - It takes time to get used to anything that is drastically changed. Everyone had their methods and tricks for 2.0, and if you play and give it time, I'm sure we'll all develop new methods and tricks for 3.0.

Also, it isn't like Hoops Dynasty was thriving with users in 2.0. While we have/had a core group of veterans who intend(ed) to play the game as long as it exists, there was no real growth, and that core group is smaller than a lot of people believe. Season after season people would drop off piece by piece and it was a matter of time until the worlds were near baron under 2.0.

The 3.0 changes at least give WIS a chance to bring in a new user base that can fill up worlds and give us more users, but it's up to them to deliver on their marketing end.

I think you are over reacting to the reaction

Agree mets. HD3 is a pretty good product, it just needs refinement. Potential started out iffy and it got sort of fixed. There are lots of things that can be done.

Fixable issues:
EE Issue at D1. This is going to really tick off the vets.
Recruiting budgets at D3 are small
Scouting turns up a ton of dud players that choke off your screen. Maybe D2 A+ teams don't need to see all the borderline D2/D3 guys?
Its impossible to keep track of what others are doing in recruiting....maybe makes poaching harder which is good, also makes it hard to tell if you should stay in on a battle.

I think the value of APs to HVs can be addressed, along with the % chance a V.High gets the recruit over a High could be reduced.
When 2 V.Highs have to draw rocks to see who gets the recruit, I think no one gets upset. The High team winning over 1 or more very highs drives folks nuts.

But its fun. I like HD3 recruiting.

I love the changes, however I do wish it did not have such a steep learning curve. I had to get rid of several of my teams that I was quite fond of because the overlap of Worlds was nearly impossible during learning the new way of recruiting! But again, the new "masters" hopefully will address the issues that did not appear during beta and the game will be better then ever!

Interesting.
[1] I think the so-called "issue" around EE's is already fixed, but it will take a few seasons for everybody to realize it. They aren't going to be hoarded by a small number of teams any more; they will be spread around. I think Seble was right to step back and see how it runs when he did.
[2] Agreed, but they are in line with what Seble was trying to do, that being favor the D1 teams.
[3] This will be less of an issue as coaches learn to be more efficient with their scouting.
[4] This isn't an issue in need of a fix. This is one of the best features in the new game.

They actually made it easier to sort recruits and organize your scouting efforts by giving us more categories and the ability to put a recruit in a category right on their player card. Further, the search functions are much more powerful now.

In the end it will all come down to them adding new users that decide to stay and the only thing that will bring those users in is marketing. If we lost 1/3 of our current user base but bring in a plethora of new users then in my opinion the changes were worth it.

I think it's a bit misleading to say there was no real growth without stating there was also no real marketing effort. It's hard to make something grow when people don't know it exists. Word of mouth only goes so far.

the question for any users including long-time vets wasn't was 3.0 needed, the question is whether this is the 3.0 that was needed. vets didn't leave because any changes were made, most vets championed many changes, even some with the intent of the current 3.0 changes, they are leaving because they feel the wrong changes were made in the wrong way.
