Sim Recruiting Differences Topic

Can anyone help make sense of this case? I just took over for Xavier, the team that at the end of the second recruiting period had 0 signings, then in the morning magically had signed 2 and got two walk ons. Both are terrible recruits by D1 standards for a team recruiting with a B- prestige. I compared to other teams with SIM recruits with like prestige (Charlotte/Oregon) and it makes me sad. Worst part about it is I had 0 PG's going into the recruiting period, yet the SIM managed to sign 0 PGs, rather took two walk on PG's to lead the team this year.

Two thoughts on this.

One is: these are very basic basketball recruiting fundamentals that the SIM should be able to pick up on. A PG should have been the #1 priority for the SIM. This is not acceptable because it's not realistic to believe any coach is dumb enough to take 2 walk ons to run his offense.

Two is: If the incoming coach is hired for that team prior to the Second recruiting period beginning, then that coach should have the ability to recruit for his future team. In real life if I was the coach and new coach was hired mid year, what would happen? The new coach would lead the recruiting effort after the season had ended.

Thoughts?

Agreed. Welcome to the five years rebuild. It's dynasty with randomness now. I am doing the same at PSU. Good luck.

I've been told by a few around here we are supposed to like this and to stop whining.

Incorrect. You don't have to like it. It is what it is. Not whining incessantly about it would be a bonus for the rest of us though.

If you take the job as an "Unemployed" position from formally being in a World you get to do the Part Two recruiting yourself. If You reserved the team through the reserve a team, you do not get to recruit. I actually learned this the hard way, and will never make the same error again.

However, I do agree that Sim Logic does not even make sense. The team I took over had 4 Centers and 4 PF's returning, and one open position with a total of two guards , with the SF's awful ball handlers, with no speed). So did the logic take a walk on guard? No Took another Center that I did not even close to need.

And as for the whining, do not see a complaint on "How Sim Recruits" as whining. A simple fix to Sim logic makes the entire game more enjoyable. Yeah I get it, some of you prefer a "Newbie" being forced to start a PF or C at guard or in the case a Big 6 Team starting a player out of position. To me, I enjoy the game, win or lose. I don't like Sim recruiting Logic (super classes!) either and having facts, not whining.

i got the toledo job in rupp a season ago..the sim recruited a pretty good sg non-qualifier that i kept & i was able to recruit a decent int'l sf that year also..why should it be easy for a new dl coach in his 1st season recruit good dl players..sim or human? just thinkin' out loud..

I was simply being snide to a snide comment.

SIMAI has always proven to be terrible in virtually every game where it's used. I'm not surprised. My team had 3 SR, 1 JR, 1 SO and 7 FR. Both guards were SR. You'd think, with 7 slots to fill, ol' SIMMY would sign a guard or two since the other two were departing. Of course he didn't.

I appreciate the venue to vent and the pats on the back. I know things are how they are but I am a grown man so I will wipe up my sad tears and move on this year.

However, I didn't sign a contract to play this game, i paid for this so I expect a product that simulates a college dynasty experience so I felt obligated to raise the red flag hoping the developers may be able to tweak the logic in the future.

I agree, I came into D1 with my home town team and every year only one position was recruited. So this year I lose 2 Centers, next year 3 PF and so on this year was one spot at SG.

That reminds me. I was looking at a sim controlled team today. It had like 10 PF's and C's. And they were ranked like #38. How does that even happen?

Their 1 PG brings it down the court, throws it inside and the big men bang into each other until it goes in the hole.
