Ok, so one of my main recruits that I want to focus on has listed as his preference a "Very Bad" rating and wants a long term coach. With me being a first year coach, am I wasting my time to pursue?

Depends on how your other preferences line up, how much money you are willing to throw at him, and whether or not other coaches are pursuing (and how their preferences line up).

Plus, from what I've read, some preferences have more weight than others. Unless something changed, I believe Whatif wouldn't specify which ones are more important to the recruit...

One bad preference isn't going to be that big a deal by itself. Especially if the only ones you are competing against are SIMS. I'm amazed how many good players have nobody on them. Not even SIMS through the second day.

4 seasons is neutral 10 seasons is very good.

One terrible preference is not a killer. It's merely a disadvantage. All your effort may be multiplied by .9 or whatever the number is. That just means you will have to put in more effort just to reach the same amounts others would.

I go like this : 0.5 for good, 1 for vg, -0.5 for bad, -1 for vb. I try and get to 2.5 and up, at 4, I feel my prefs are awesome. I add up the wants to play since I know 10 is good and 15 up is vg. I dont know if it makes a difference giving 20... I never pursue recruits where I am negative. I give less impact to
def, off and playing style prefs when I hesitate on what to do.
