Not sure if it's a system issue or my lack of understanding about new recruiting. My Mich St Crum team started with 7 openings, so I received 140 attention points, the max because I had more than the 6 per class, so I only got 20 base APs + 6 freshman openings * 20 per opening = 140 APs.
Once I signed 3 players and was left with 4 openings, I only have 89 APs left. Shouldn't that be 100? I understand the math (the system assumes I had about 18 APs per total openings plus the 20 base). However, if I receive zero APs for my 7th openings, shouldn't I lose zero APs when I sign my first player? That would leave me with 6 openings, 140 APs, on a level footing with other coaches who started with six openings. The way it calculates now, I am penalized throughout the entire for an extra opening caused by a previous coach's walk-on and prior season recruiting failures.
I would propose that if you have more than 6 openings and receive no APs for those openings above 6, you should lose no APs for signings until you reach 6 total openings, then lose the same 20 APs per signings that other programs lose.
