If a recruit has "no preference" listed for playing time; does it ever help at all to offer him a promised start, and, or promised minutes?

Yes. You still get recruiting credit for it and it is a positive modifier on all future actions. At least that is my understanding.

Thanks tgblackw.

A positive modifier for future actions? So you're saying that a promise then 20 HVs is more valuable than 20 HVs then a promise? This can't be true is it?

I think it is.

Yes, that was the message from WIS during beta and there's been nothing from them to imply they've changed it since, you're better off sending promises of starts/minutes ASAP then HVs rather than both at the same time or HVs before promises. I don't think anyone has quantified how much the difference is but I haven't gone looking through the forums for that info either so it may be out there.

Ok very interesting, thanks for the info. With the 20 HV cap I'll take any multiplier I can get. Unless it's a total rebuild I've always used promises as a last resort.

I sent in a ticket asking precisely that question:

TLDR, yes the promise minutes/start have a multiplying effect on all subsequent effort (the "Wants to Play" preference just makes it significantly bigger).

This may have been answered before, but if you send a promise along with AP or HV in the same cycle, does the multiplying effect from the promise get applied to the other effort in that same cycle? Something in my head says yes and I may have read that somewhere but I can't remember now.

Yes, the promises are processed first and have a multiplying effect on the other effort that cycle.

Cool, thanks for confirming that I'm not just making things up. This time.
