im a d3 coach. If I apply 20 ap points for a day and it unlocks only 5% scholarship is this a good hint I can't get him?

Not necessarily but it will take 400 AP to unlock the scholarship.

Once you have unlocked everything is there a need to keep applying ap points

Depends. If you're the only team on him, probably not. If others are, especially humans, you might want to in order to keep them down.

I agree with Mike. although, I would never remove all the points, especially on a DI guy, but you can definitely reduce them if there is no competition. With that said, if I'm a DIII recruiting a DI, you can bet a DI or even DII can very easily pop up, so I like to keep the points high to build a lead and make it a little harder for them to catch up quickly. If they are just going to put a few points into the guy, but no effort, those extra points you pumped in may help keep them off.

This.

With the recruiting value AP has, it's definitely useful even if you're alone.

Can you beat out a sim d1 team out or are you still fighting an uphill battle

You can, but it's definitely an uphill battle, especially at D3. There are a lot of factors to consider before you decide to take on a D1 sim. For instance, were you on the recruit first? If so, how long before the D1 team showed up? Do the recruits preferences match up with your team? Does the recruit want to play? If yes, can you off a start (and minutes) while the D1 team can't?

According to Seble, the Sim team will continue to recruit "as long as it thinks it can win," whatever that means. So once the Sim offers a scholarship, you're done. If that doesn't happen, you have a chance.

It's also important to note here: Since you are a D3 team going after a D1 recruit, he won't sign with you until the last 24 hours of the second session. While he can sign with the D1 Sim at any time, depending on the recruit's signing preference.

tl;dr Yes, but only if you're lucky.
