Recruiting $ Options Topic

Not that this will ever happen because there are far more important issues for WIS to attend to, but...

Since there is no longer any way to carryover any portion of the recruiting funds, wouldn't it be nice if there were more options available to use of ALL of the budget? When you get stuck with (for instance) $77 and the least expensive home visit for you target is perhaps $200, it would be fun to be able to make -- similar to Gridiron Dynasty -- some Head Coach phone calls ($25?), Assistant phone calls ($15?), send Packages/Brochures ($5?), or even send reminder postcards ($1?). That way, at least a coach could feel that he/she did everything possible to get a recruit and not waste the remaining money that is allocated.

There was that in 2.0, but they got rid of it in favor of AP's.

Yes, I know. It just seems a bit silly to: 1) not allow recruiting $ to be carried over; AND 2) give coaches no "reasonable" way to actually spend all the money down to the last dollar.

True, but there would have to be a cap on that as well or it would negate the whole "you can't buy players thing" they were trying to start up (which I would have no issue with)

I understand the objective to not allow "buying" of players...and I am a proponent of that approach. That is the reason why Home Visits are capped at 20. The main point here was that we would be talking about very low $ amounts and I was advocating the use of the same recruiting budget. But, I suppose that technically you are right...if a coach uses up all his allotted Home Visits, he could then (if he had a lot of money left) make 40 Head Coach phone calls or send out 1,000 "postcards" to a kid and get the equivalent (dollar-wise) of perhaps 3-5 more HVs. My perspective is only from D3 and D2 experience where I haven't had a very large recruiting budget to play with...perhaps with a D1 budget the use of additional recruiting options could get out of hand.
