Anyone have any idea the parameters for a recruit preference being good for "Strong Defense"? I'm giving up 55 points a game (8th in the country), holding opponents to 40% from the floor and 30% from 3 and have a 77 rated defense and I'm neutral.
I was good at the beginning of the season and it changed after an overtime game where I gave up 84 points. Been pretty stingy since then.

It's points allowed per possession, and the ranges are set such that only a handful of teams (and rarely those with a good strength of schedule) can qualify for very good, and even just good takes a very solid defense.

I forgot what the cut off is exactly but it's less than 80 points per 100 possessions. I've only gotten VG on defense a couple times at D3, it's pretty hard to get.

And yeah gdog13cavs is correct about strength of schedule. It's a drawback to play a tough schedule or in a loaded conference for this particular preference.

Tempo would have no impact on pts per possession

I think you misunderstood Mully. Hes saying that his slow tempo makes his defense seem better than it is when using points per possession.
