I have the 2010 Roy Oswalt on a team in a draft league. In real life he gave up 19 home runs in 212 innings pitched. For me, he has given up 16 home runs in 29 innings pitched. Everyone is from 2010 to 2016, so the league isn't full of teams with Babe Ruth and Barry Bonds. I am in a neutral ball park.

Can anyone explain why he is so bad?

MLB has still been homer-heavy the last 6 years. Is he facing big HR guys, especially lefties (Harper, Davis, Ortiz, etc.)? Has he been pitching in HR-friendly road parks?

It's a draft league. There is only one Harper. There is only one Davis. There is only one Ortiz. He made one start in Wrigley and allowed seven hits, six of which were home runs.

The likeliest explanation is very simple, but also the most frustrating to hear. It's probably just extreme bad luck over a very small sample size.

His IP/G is 6.05, but I have him on 90, so he should be okay.

He is now 0-5 with a 9.58 ERA. 31 innings pitched and 18 HRA.

At least he is supported by Justin Morneau (.345/.437/.618). Oh wait, he is hitting .133/.291/.178 and has 2 RBI after 24 games.

In some instances, the SIM has unrealistic variability. Ive had an A- shortstop finish with 45 errors. More recently, I had a B/A 2b with 10 errors in 20 games. Thats the way it rolls.

btw, never get a pitcher with over 0.5 HR/9#
