Is this a dominant player at D3? I know he is good but I want some opinions on if this guy can be scorer and key component to a NC type team.

ATH: 70
SPD:70
REB:65
DEF:75
BLK:45
LP:65
PER:35
BH:45
PASS:35
FT: B

Flex/Press I am also not sure if he would be a better scorer at the 3 or 4. It may be situational. I am looking at him being a third option on offense to compliment some serious PER shooters.

I am a little concerned about his BLK and REB if he played serious minutes at the 4 but am super intrigued about playing a 70 speed PF on a D3 press team.

I think this guy would be a great SF on a D3 press team. Actually I wouldn't mind having him on my D2 press/FB team with that ATH and SPD. The LP and REB ratings seem a bit low to be a consistent option at the 4, although if he is your 3rd scoring option, I could see dropping him down there if the matchup was right.

This would be a very unique player for me and I, without a doubt, would play him at the 4.

He'll be a fine scorer as well.

4. I predict he would wreck, in the press.

Do you still have no doubts if you know that your 1-3 are all going to have sub 20 REB scores?

Against zone or m2m, you could even play him at the 2 if the matchup was right. The 70/70/65 ath/sp/lp would get him to the line all day.

Great.

Do those types of guys do well against the zone? I don't know how the lp guards do against he 3-2 and 2-3. IMO, they certainly draw less fouls. I know from the defensive side j have been pretty successful in stopping those guys but my zone teams are usually pretty good defensively.

Oh, well, then yeah. I mean that's why I want him!

I would alternate at the 3 and 4 situationally.

I would also bench him when playing DePauw. ;)

Btw I've been questioning the importance of having more than 2-3 capable rebounders on a D3 team and the last two D3 national championships in Knight seem to be anecdotal evidence that having little to no rebounding at the 3 when running press can still be a recipe for serious success. My starting 3 had 24 REB last year and his backup had 19 REB. I had only one player on my championship team with a REB rating higher than 70.

IMO, triangle teams and flex need rebounding more than the other two. It's more about what you can trade the rebounding for and who is going to score than it being hardwired into some formula.

In fastbreak, I would rather have a 40 SPEED 70 REB center than a 1 SPEED 100 REB guy. I don't think speed is quite a 1 for 1 trade but it's close. It's easier to trade speed for rebounding (and the 40-70 guy is easier to recruit).

In motion, you shouldn't really have an offensive zero and certainly don't want two. In this set, I would trade 20 points of rebounding for LP. In some sets I have no problem eating a 20 LP center and I'll set his distro to zero. In motion, I would rather have the 70 REB 50 LP guy than the 100 REB 20 LP guy.

In triangle and flex, I want my BIGS to play defense and rebound. At D3, I am looking for ATH/DEF/REB first and anything else is gravy. As long as they weren't connected to press I take the 1-10 SPEED center. I also take the low LP post in a heart beat if his ATH/DEF/REB were 70+.

tl;dr- Rebounding is more important in some sets and styles. You don't always need it to win.

Yes. I rarely have my 1-3 with any rebounding.
