IMO, triangle teams and flex need rebounding more than the other two. It's more about what you can trade the rebounding for and who is going to score than it being hardwired into some formula.
In fastbreak, I would rather have a 40 SPEED 70 REB center than a 1 SPEED 100 REB guy. I don't think speed is quite a 1 for 1 trade but it's close. It's easier to trade speed for rebounding (and the 40-70 guy is easier to recruit).
In motion, you shouldn't really have an offensive zero and certainly don't want two. In this set, I would trade 20 points of rebounding for LP. In some sets I have no problem eating a 20 LP center and I'll set his distro to zero. In motion, I would rather have the 70 REB 50 LP guy than the 100 REB 20 LP guy.
In triangle and flex, I want my BIGS to play defense and rebound. At D3, I am looking for ATH/DEF/REB first and anything else is gravy. As long as they weren't connected to press I take the 1-10 SPEED center. I also take the low LP post in a heart beat if his ATH/DEF/REB were 70+.
tl;dr- Rebounding is more important in some sets and styles. You don't always need it to win.
