Recruiting between Divisions [Poll] Topic

This was discussed in another thread but I wanted to get other's opinion on how recruiting between divisions works and how effort is calculated when you have a D2 battling a D1 - for example.

Feel free to vote in the poll and bicker vigorously!

How is recruiting effort calculated?

I was going to start a thread called "Entitlement" to stir up **** but maybe this will work. Looks like a slow afternoon for me.

I've always envisioned it more like Graph 1. From experience, I've been able to fend off D1 sims as a D2 school with moderate effort, but as a D3 school, they seem to blow me out of the water in just a couple cycles. To me, this would indicate more of a step as a result of the division multiplier you're showing in Graph 1.

To my thinking, it’s more along the lines of whether the difference between D1 B+ and D1 A+ is roughly the same or smaller than the difference between D2 A+ and D1 D+. I haven’t noticed much difference, but I don’t often run into battles with humans running D+ teams, so I can’t say for sure.

I think its probably closer to 2, but there could be a little extra bump between divisions. It’s small, if it exists.

Speculative, but if a bump exists, one reason I may not notice it as an A+ D2 school is that some individual preferences are more likely to come into play in my favor at that level, rather than the B+ to A+ level intra-division. I’m thinking particularly success, conference strength (not a factor for me, but in strong D2 conferences), long time coach. The high D2 is more likely to have individual preference advantages that would mitigate the division bump, if it exists.

Since we've been told that A+ can be unlimited at the top end (i.e. - A++++), is there conceivably a point where an extremely strong D2 could overlap or grade out ahead of a bottom-of-the-heap D- D1 program? Or is the top team from a lower division always going to be worse off than the lower team at the higher division (preferences notwithstanding)?

In the early days of HD, there was a glitch in which D1 schools with very, very bad prestige would show a prestige grade of A+ because they'd dropped into the range typical of A+ D2 schools. Nobody has ever announced a rework of the prestige scale. They fixed the glitch so that prestige showed up as a D- no matter how bad it got, but the underlying multipliers didn't change to the best of my knowledge. I see no reason why that relationship should have changed. That would suggest Graph 2.

Graph 2 unless there is a negative factor added in to the SIM coaches. Low prestige D1 SIM coaches are easily beatable for D2 teams. Low prestige D1 humans are much tougher.

It was confirmed awhile back by Seble that there is no overlap in prestige between divisions.

This is a key piece of information. And if it is indeed true that the scale has not been updated, I would change my answer to graph 2.
