New Owner New Team Budget/Draft help Topic

Im a new owner just started my 2nd team and Ive read a lot of forum posts on here. Ive read that scouting can be tricky at lower budgets.

My team had default scouting budget last year and i have the #1 overall pick. Being that i can only take my HS/Col scouting to 14. Should i lean towards college being that they might be more reliable or high school because Im blind anyways? or should just punt the pick?

Thanks in advance

I'd recommend college because there's less "swing" in those projections. That said, if you're not comfortable with what you see once the prospects come out, don't hesitate to rank "Probably won't sign" first along with "very aggressive" draft setting. Worst case scenario, you get the #2 with 18m the following season.

Thanks!!!!

That’s kind of what I was thinking....

what if a (probably won’t sign guy signs and it terrible lol) all part of the game I guess

They almost always ask for more. You don't have to offer their 2nd demand to get comp next season.

on a different topic- when you get the error "evenly distribute the contract" what does that mean- Example in some cases its like 1mim year #1, 2mm year #2, 3mm year 3..

Season - This is the actual season salary that you would like to offer the player. Season 1 refers to the first season in which the player is not already under contract with your franchise. So, if the player is currently arbitration eligible and has not gone through an arbitration hearing, season 1 means this current season. If the player is in the final year of his contract with your team and will soon become a free agent, season 1 indicates the next Hardball Dynasty season. In a two-year contract, neither season can comprise more than 60% of the total value of the contract. In a three-year contract, no season can comprise more than 40% of the total value of the contract. In a four-year contract, no season can comprise more than 30% of the total value of the contract. In a five-year contract, no season can comprise more than 25% or less than 10% of the total value of the contract. There is a maximum allowable offer of $20 million for any season. The minimum for any season is the minimum annual salary at that level. For the big leagues, this is 325K. To change the offer for any season, please click in the box next to the season and enter an integer value. For a three-year contract, you must enter in values for the first three seasons, but you may leave seasons 4 and 5 blank. The total value of the contract will appear at the bottom of the page.

Rank players who 'probably won't sign'

but make sure they are the best players that 'probably won't sign'. If by some miracle they sign off the first offer you might still get a good player.

Warning. Their first ask will be a lot more then slot. Between 6 and 8 million.

Yep. Just a few days ago, drafted two "probably won't sign" guys in the 21st and 25th rounds. Both asked for $8.5M.

Mike T- Thank you for that detailed explanation. I knew it had to be some formula. Thanks again

Copy/paste job. You just have to know where to look. Good luck.
