If you offer a start to an academically ineligible player and they don’t gain their eligiblity. Will the player get angry about not starting? Or does it only count against you if they gain eligibility?

Agreed. I have only had one (EVER) gain eligibility and he had a High School GPA of over 2.8. Normally you have nothing to worry about because they stay "Non Qualified".
