Where do players with no bonus or draft come from? Topic

Sometimes I'll see a decent guy who wasn't drafted, nor was signed through IFA. Where do they come from, tryouts? I always thought tryouts were terrible players to fill minor league.

Just a guess here, cause I've never researched it, but I would bet they are players who WERE drafted as college seniors but went unsigned and then showed up in the FA pool the following season.

Most of the time that's where they come from. Graduated seniors who show up at age 23 in the FA pool. Their player card will show their draft slot if they're at least drafted. But if it says undrafted, that means they fell right out of the pool entirely or went unscouted.

Thanks for the feedback. The players don't have a draft position so maybe they are just weren't signed and came back as FAs.
