I know batting eye is an important trait for a good hitter but is it possible for other ratings (VR, VL, or Contact) makeup for poor batting eye?

Absolutely. The ratings all work together. Poor batting eye shows in that the player won't take many walks.

roughly, you get about a walk per eye rating point a season. obviously there are a lot of other factors though.

Not 100% perfect but you can typically add EYE rating to a players BA and it will equal OBP
