Silverio

Awful Control and Vs L but awesome Vs R, Vel, GB, and solid array of pitches.

Think he can remotely suceed (sub 5.0 ERA) in the majors?

He's iffy. A lot of owners may say no but I say he'll have a major league role. Being 23, if he just gets a few of those ratings to tick up it should work.

I use players like him in the LR/ spot starter role quite often...though I have my rotations set up that my LR is kind of like a mop up pitcher but still, he should be fine in that role with some off years and some surprisingly good years.

In a park that allows homers relative to singles (CIN, LA, SA) he might work OK at the very back of a bullpen. Expect ERA about a half run worse than average adjusted for league and ballpark.

I'm a bit more optimistic. He's got innings in him. I could see him as an SP4 or SP5.

Maybe that's because both my teams are in pitcher's parks.

Thanks guys. I'll give him a chance in the majors for sure

This guy has VERY similar ratings and still has a little development left:

I'm glad to see some opinions on a similar player! He may have pushed his way into my future plans.

Another weird pitcher,

Bazario

What about this guy? Poor but not awful control, awful VSL, average VSR, and two awesome 91 and 89 pitches

My opinion, no way. I wouldnt even really use him if his control was good. His vL and vR would both have to be 10 points higher for him to be effective...maybe if you are a rebuilding team and need some Setup B types you could try him out. But I've never really had much luck with guys like him.

The reason Silverio would be okay to use as a LR/ spot starter is his splits are higher and hes a GB pitcher.

Just for fun I dug back to one of my former pitchers who won the Cy Young with low control: Player Profile: Sam Long - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports

If you look at his career, very good career for a low control guy. His Opp AVG was always very good but that was offset by a high WHIP which elevated his ERA a bit but still....very serviceable.

I’d use him as a long reliever. His vL isn’t actually that terrible; I’ve had lots of guys with splits in the upper 50s do well if their other numbers were good. The control is a concern. And this may be a personal thing, but I’ve been burned by 3-pitch guys in the past, and generally I don’t like to use them as starters.

I think your guy could be a perfectly acceptable long reliever, but I wouldn’t want him in my rotation.

I agree with this.. I'd definitely see him as starter at the ML level. Not everyone will have top notch guys throughout. I've had much worse L-R than this guy that have pitched well enough Not quite 50 control but it's possible.
