Does a base runner have a chance to steal a base every PITCH, or is it just determined during each plate appearance as a binary, did they or didn't they try to steal?

I believe the pitcher is assigned a random amount of pitches used only after a PA has concluded. No particular proof of this except for seeing pitch counts adjust when LIVE was still active. This would lead me to believe that SB are binary.

That would make sense but, also from playing LIVE, I remember seeing pitch counts go up during a PA and after a stolen base attempt (or pickoff, or balk, etc).

It is possible that only 1 instance exists during each roll of the 1,000 sided dice when the runner would make the attempt to steal. But if so, it would also limit the opportunity for a pickoff attempt, balk, etc...we don't know how in depth they built the at bat, pitch by pitch, or all in one...we know about the .299 hitter...to get a hit all he has to have is a "die roll " between 1-299 and he has a hit...he has 299 successful hit numbers out of the 1000 possible numbers...

Does anyone know if left handed pitching has any effect on stolen bases in the sim game?

I think it does, but I haven't ever seen anyone confirm it.

As to the first question, I believe that it's right that there's only one chance, and the pitches are randomly assigned after the PA. When you play (played, I guess) live and did a pitchout, I think that just meant the pitcher got 2 (or 3? or 4?) rolls to see how many pitches they threw.

Thanks for the reply. I thought I had read it somewhere that it did. But I couldn't find it.
