I felt for me it was three seasons but I am still learning. The issue is that sometimes there is a confluence of factors that impact performance. Is there something in particular that is perplexing you?

When to bring someone up from minors and who to decide to bring up

Most prospects have done the bulk of their growth by 3-4 pro seasons. If they are better than your current big leaguer then probably bring them up. If you look at how other players in your league fare with similar ratings it should let you know how they will perform at the big league level (stadium adjustments should be taken into consideration).

Baseball is a multi-level professional sport. That means some players are aa players, some are aaa players some are ML players. Obviously the vast majority are not ML players. With that in mind a player needs to demonstrate that he has mastered the current level to be promoted. That's a general rule. Top rated prospects are a little different, I will promote them with less productivity as long as they weren't a total failure at their current level. I typically have a 3-6 year plan for top prospects and promote them according to that plan as long as they don't bomb at current level. Typically they need to get to the majors by age 25.

On a similar note, for the development formula of (yr2-yr1*2.5)+yr1 is "year 1" the year the guy was drafted or the first full season?
