What are the ethics and or feelings on recruiting for teams you are leaving? My reasoning is this; I am leaving two worlds to cut back to only eight. The Timetables are so overlapping it seems, I am leaving the two I always miss recruiting dates in (screws up the cycle big time). Both are about to go into RS1.

Do I recruit just because I like recruiting, or do I do nothing and just allow Sim to enter RS2 (or a new human) with a clean slate?

You’re not obligated to care about the next guy, or setting your team up in any way. If you care about your conference mates, and don’t want to leave a dumpster fire of a program that will crash their conference RPI for years, there are ways to be thoughtful about it. In that case, my advice is to recruit mostly as normal. Doing nothing is not doing the next guy a favor, just be smart about the visits you do, don’t make visits (home or campus) for guys who aren’t going to sign until after you’re gone.

If D1, I recruit as normal, except I don’t do any visits for late signing guys, because if a human steps in, he loses most of the credit you got, and is out those visits you did.

If D2 or lower, I try to set the next guy up with a bunch of options, if possible. So again, it’s important to not do visits on anyone in the D1 pool, because they won’t even consider signing until you’re gone.

I recruit for the next guy/Sim in every case so far.

I look at it this way. No guarantee the next coach will be human. A sim coach at a high prestige school is getting mostly walk-ons. A human coach will move talent where it fits their style.

The higher prestige the school I am leaving the more likely I am to try to fill the roster up. Ideally with studs but sometimes (when losing rolls) with whatever I can get.

Just wanted to see how others do it. Recruiting is one aspect that I really enjoy. And I have recruited every time I have left a World. And I just go for Early Signing Guys at my level, so any late signer still could be recruited. However I just recruited for a D2 team I am leaving and have a D1 guy turned to my school. Well like you said, I am leaving.
