Who's the more efficient scorer? Topic

Player A:
ATH:68
SPD: 98
LP: 17
PER: 87
BH: 86
IQ: B+

Player B:
ATH: 54
SPD:69
LP:47
PER:94
BH:46
IQ: A+ (a hig A+ if you think that's a thing, he's been an A+ for 30ish games)

Player A plays SG and Player B plays SF.

Triangle D2

I have a small sample size and am pretty surprised by the results. I was just wondering what people think.

Well, B has done better? A seems like the best scorer.

Fun fact: Kirkham's TS% would rank 9th in the NBA, right between Bojan Bogdanovic and Danilo Gallinari.

TS%
Mowrey (A): 60.3
Kirkham (B): 64.2

I am pretty surprised that Kirkham is that much better, and that Mowrey shot only 32% from 3.

I think another factor to consider is that Mowrey started the year at only 63 PER. I imagine he'd be much better if he had another season and could fully utilize that 87 rating and some extra IQ.
Also, Kirkham took vastly more 3FGA (218 v 41, or 66% v 24% of total FGA), which I'm sure helps with the TS%.

If opposing coaches are worth anything they are probably targeting Mowrey with better defenders though. If he is still only 4% behind in TS% while dealing with every team's best perimeter defender then I'd say that's impressive, and he absolutely is your best scorer. Everything is relative.

B

As a B+ guard whose perimeter is just now getting to the excellent range, Mowery is starting to grow into your expectations, just in time for the postseason. As a high A+ SF with lethal D2 scoring attributes, I’m not surprised that Kirkham is your offensive centerpiece. The ath/spd/BH look mediocre, but with triangle, they hurt less.

Yeah, the guard has blossomed recently but even in the last 7 or so games the sf is still the better scorer for me. I keep looking to adjust the distro but the results haven’t changed much.

thanks for the feedback guys.

Not that surprising really. Kirkham has a 64 stamina rating compared to Mowery's 84. You're also giving Kirkham more distro, which also means he's forcing more shots, in addition the more shots he takes the larger the stamina hit. Just because you don't see it on the stamina bar all the time, doesn't mean he's not tiring. He could be on the brink of being tired, but they might be no stoppage of play to sub him out for the next minute to minute and a half, that makes a difference.

Also, Kirkham taking a lot more 3's is going to drop his overall FG%a lot more times than not, depending on the 3pt %.

I don't think A+ to B+ has a huge impact. Sometimes we tend to focus so much on IQ to the point where we lose sight of how important ratings are. If you have a 100 perimeter guy, with a D offensive IQ, he's still going to hit 3's at a good rate. There's nothing wrong with IQ's in the B range, I don't know how many times I've heard your IQ's need to improve, they'll have B's across the board, but it's usually an attempted solution to a problem where they can't find anything else.

It's cause Mowrey spent the year growing

I've also had very poor success scoring with players in the low/mid 60s in stamina. ~70 is ok for triangle/zone although it would still be a major problem for fastbreak/press. IMO, 60s stamina guys who look like all stars, aren't.
