you look at mlb on tv now and there are no more guys that are musclebound cartoon characters or guys with ET heads that look like they are ready to explode....the players look normal again.
it is baseball again... and it is fun again for me.

Much rather watch Billy Hamilton or Dee Gordon than Aaron Judge or Joey Gallo
2/26/2019 6:25 PM
Agreed. By the way, with his .249 BA last year, but with some other stats that were stronger, what's everybody's opinion here of Bryce Harper's new contract?

overpaid. he's on the downhill slide

Phils win two titles he's worth it

be funny if he steps in the street and gets run over by a bus tomorrow
3/2/2019 3:23 PM
Do I think he’s overpaid? Yes.

But Philly is definitely gonna be a good team (and make money) for years to come.

IDK if they have the pitching to win a ring, but they’re definitely gonna contend

they had no great team last season and won 80....they now have bryce and a great new all star catcher and new ss and a growing young nukeleus....and nola and good young pitchers.....

He’ll hit homers in that park because everybody does. Like Bagchucker said, if they win a World Series or two then it’s worth it. Plus, at least he didn’t go to the Yankees.

At 25M per year, he's a bargain and gives them the flexibility to get Trout in 2 years too, or Keuchel and/or Kimbrel now.

Agree w/ ozomatli that $25M/year right now is a bargain, and he'll make the Phillies fun to watch. The deal will even out in the sense that he'll still be getting $25M/year over the last 3 years when he probably won't be contributing much if anything. Win/win.

Trout's not going where the money is

Trout's not a surley basher. Trout's happy where Trout is

lucky break for the Angels

what you have to pray for, if you want him, is his world gettin shook

like say a child dies or something

which of course ball fans would never ever ever, especially not the commissioner (biggest ball fan of all!) hope for

“If you want to make G*d smile tell Him your plans.” Vin Scully repeated that aphorism more times than one could count: Don’t take any days for granted.

Thirteen years is nuts. (Yes it’s equally nuts for Stanton.) If I and anyone else here are lucky enough to remain in 2031 (2031!) and Harper is still playing for the Phillies, I’ll give you a shiny nickel; that is, a 2019 nickel discounted to future value, because I can’t forecast the value of a nickel that far out.

I just read somewhere that the Braves are still paying Bruce Sutter

I read recently that Bobby Bonilla is still being paid by the Mets and will receive roughly 1,2 mil per year until 2035. He did, like Bryce Harper, have a couple of good years.

Ahhh yes, Bobby Bonilla Day. As a Mets fan growing up, I continue to pop open a bottle of champagne on that day each summer when they cut him that big fat check.

Tongue firmly in cheek.
