Roster limit question Topic

If I have 6 Sophmores on my roster can I sign a Juco player in the first recruiting period? This would give me 7 Juniors next season.

Yes, you can do that, at least in my experience. I had a team one year that had 6 freshmen and a redshirt freshmen who I signed as a transfer, and another team which had 6 freshmen and a juco another year.

It's my belief that your AD will not allow any *new* recruit to sign which will push any class over the 6 player limit. WIS will allow you to redshirt a player though to have more than 6 players in the following season (i.e. sign 6 freshmen in one season, redshirt a sophomore and the following season you would have 7 sophomores).

I don't think they'll even make an exception to this even if you believe there is a high probability that one of your existing sophomores would go EE.

If this is actually happening, then it sounds awfully like a bug where WIS isn't properly looking ahead and thinking your sophomores will be juniors (i.e. they wouldn't let you sign a sophomore in the first session even if you didn't have any existing freshman on your roster).

This current season playing in Wooden allow me to do this. And I assumed I'd be able to. I just had 6 openings to fill. And I had a freshman redshirted once RS1 opened up and recruiting began. I signed 5 freshmen and had 3 or 4 more scholarships unlocked with intent to sign one, but each said that I couldn't because it would exceed the number of players allowed in one class.

So I signed a senior transfer just to get my 12th man

I think this is correct

back to the original question though - not all jucos are juco2 - there are some jucos who enter as sophs - you can add one of those.

There are transfers in all years of eligibility

And of course you can sign true FR
