Franchise Tag Progressive (On hiatus) Topic

“Franchise tagged players” - an idea I’ve been toying with, and I’m curious if there would be any interest. I’m very much open to suggestions on how I could improve this league or what I could expect as a GM.

Standard progressive rules:
Starts in 1901 with 12 teams within two leagues (6/6).

Only draft picks from one season in the future are eligible to be traded. Drafts order will be determined by reverse w/l record at game 120. At that time a minimum of 40 wins is required for the 1st pick, 35 for the 2nd pick, and 30 for the 3rd pick, 25 for the 4th pick. Tie breaker is head to head record with the better record picking earlier. Second tie breaker or tie breaker for 3 or more teams with the same record is overall team salary, with the lower salary picking first. Players must have a current WIS eligible season to be drafted. Yes to IR.

Stadiums must have been in use during the active season or have been rolled-over/grandfathered from a teams previous season. Owners must post their intent to move stadiums 3 years in advance. Team names should have a city included (dosen’t have to be your stadiums city) and be professional/not obscene.

Franchise Tagged Players
Every 30 years teams will have the opportunity to draft two (2) “Franchise Tagged” players. We will pick our franchise tagged players during the progressive inaugural draft procedings of 1901, in which there will be three seperate drafts: the stadium draft, the 1901 draft & the franchise tag draft. The 1901 & Tag draft orders will be snake-style.

Tagged players cannot ever be traded, their rights are exclusive to the team that drafts them. Once taken a player will be blacklisted in future (only as a tagged player). Tagged players must playout their seasons chronologically, including IR seasons, but you may wait to start their career by putting them on the “prospect clock”. However the tag player must finsh their WIS careers by 1930 (the year before the next Franchise Tag draft). Tagged players will atomatically start their prospect clocks in the season that it takes to end their careers by the 1930 deadline.

For example, shortstop (19 WIS seasons) Ozzie Smith’s prospect clock would begin automatically in 1912, resulting in the Wiz retiring in 1930. Once off the prospect clock the player must stay off. Tagged players may not skip DL/DNP seasons and have to go on the IR.

Tagged players must meet the following conditions:
* Must have never played (WIS season) within the current active 30-year span (1901-1930)
* Must have a career WAR below 100 & above 30 (https://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/WAR_career.shtml
* 1 player must have played 14+ WIS seasons & the other 18+ WIS seasons
* No active players.
* No Players whose WIS careers began before 1910
* Will be counted as the 24th/25th roster spots if not on the IR or Prospect clock.
