I'm at game 135 in a season. I have two players (Norman Venable + Norberto Perez) who have been humming along at 100% fatigue the entire season despite having durability of 80 and 83 respectively. A third player, Steve Hill, has a fatigue rating of 84 yet dipped under 100% quite some time ago. You would expect this to be due to Hill having more appearances in the field and the plate but it doesn't appear to be the case. Perez has 93 more innings more than Hill and Venable has 33 more plate appearances than Hill. Anyone have thoughts on why Hill is fatiguing so much faster than Venable or Perez? If durability was more tied to plate appearances than innings played I would expect Venable to be fatiguing and not at 100. If It was Innings played I would expect Perez to be fatiguing and not at 100. Are there other factors involving fatigue?
Name Durability Plate Appearances Innings
Hill (98%) 84 562 1,090
Perez (100%) 83 517 1,183
Venable (100%) 80 595 1,041

Position does play a role. Catchers fatigue more quickly; DH tire more slowly.

Here, my best guess at the explanation is just that you're in something of a sweet spot and looking at limited data.

Hill (3B) fatigues more quickly than Venable (1B), so is lower despite fewer PA.

Hill (3B) and Perez (SS) fatigue at close to the same rate (if anything, I'd expect that SS will fatigue more quickly because I suspect they just use the defensive spectrum to determine fatigue rates), but Perez has fewer PA so hasn't fallen below 100% yet. If they were at equal PA, I think the SS and the 3B would have comparable fatigue levels (and if either was more tired, I think it'd be the SS).

Just a guess, but Hill had 32 ST at bats. Venable had 16 and Perez had 2. May be the cause.

ST does make a difference -that's a good catch.

thanks for your responses, all. Good catch on ST, I usually only let the vets get a handful of ABs before pulling. Looks like I forgot with Hill.

I know this is totally unrelated, but one of my favorite first world problems is that when I have a great offensive team my guys get fatigued faster because the rack up so many darn plate appearances.
