Utility bench player who backs up 3b, 2b, LF and RF and occasionally pinch runs. On a championship contender, he’s not a good enough defender to play a premium defensive spot and he’s not a good enough hitter to start in a non premium d spot. He will steal bases, which is nice, and he isn’t terrible on D or with the stick, he just isn’t good either. He’s the type of player I would hold on to for the first 3 years as a cheap bench guy and then either flip him or release him If he was asking more than the minimum in arb.

Yeah, he's a great playoff roster add type guy.

It's just below par for the HBD recommendations. It's sufficient enough if the guy is a really good bat. Your guy is not.

They will both hurt you defensively. The first will have too many minus plays and the second will make too many errors. The question comes down to whether the players bat offsets those or not.

Every guy on your roster isn't going to be a perfect fit. He is going to struggle if you play him at short....if you are rebuilding and he is your best option....go for it. Third or COF are probably his best spots. If I was looking to add some SB in my line up....I wouldn't be afraid to play him at third. He is probably going to hit .250ish and have the potential to steal 40+ bases. As far as glove or range.....a 75 range at short would produce 10-15 negative plays while a 75 glove would produce 30+ errors. I picked 75 because I have used a 75 range at SS in the last few seasons.

For me no. I play lots of guys who have similar. I like 85 + in all def areas at ss. Id consider less maybe if they batted .850 or more for ops. I would never use your guy in the majors unless I was trying to lose. You should easily find better available in fa, rule 5 or the waiver wire.

He's fine as a 2b. He'd rack up plus plays there with his arm strength. I would think he'd be great at turning double plays too. The bat leaves a little to be desired but you can do worse for a bottom of the order bat
