I know it's early, but this is weird... This team, Oklahoma City Triples, was up 2-1 on the reigning back-to-back WS champs, and a few runs away from knocking them off, then we added (arguably) the 2 best hitters in the world, an upgrade at RP and LF (all we lost was our 5th starter and an RP). This team is now 9-12, and I'm extremely worried. Why are we doing bad? Is it because I'm not using a close this year (I did last year). Is it just because its early on? Am I lacking something in our lineup or staff? Am I making a coaching error? What's up? I expected to be a top two team in the world this year.

Ultra small sample size. Just doing a quick view of your team, I would take that team any day of the year. Give it time. You have a good defensive squad, lots of hitting and guys who can get on base and a scary pitching staff. If I have to look closer to find flaws, it’s a good team.

edit: if things get dicey or if you really feel the need to make a move, I would pick up one more bullpen guy with a VsR over 80. But I went over my top 5 checklist (good defence up the middle, good VsR and eye hitters, good power, good VsR starters, respectable bullpen) and your team checks off all of the boxes.

Thanks. Do you think it's because my lack of LRs? I've been operating with one LR. I have 6 pitchers with ST over 62 and ones hurt, so I've been using a 49 ST as my one LR. Could that be why? Because I'm using my bullpen as a lot of SU guys?

I’d consider going 13 pitchers rather then 12. The fact you have 2 guys with stamina under 10 and are in the AL your team is going to be throwing a lot of pitches. Nothing wrong with having a lot of SU guys if they are good. I usually do a LRA and LRB but that is usually due to a lack of talent. If you insist on sticking with 12 i’d Replace Boone Ray with someone who is better who can last longer.

I'm fine going 13. Is that fine to go 13 and have no LR?

Sholudn’t Be a problem. Don’t get hung up on the titles. LR and SU are just places you put the pitchers. All that matters is you have rested arms for each game by any means. If you have no one in your pen at 100 then it can be a problem.

Okay, thanks. Anyone else notice reasons my team would be doing poorly?

sometimes things dont roll your way. If you had a stretch in the middle of the season where you went 10W12L over 22 games but overall were still 15-20 games over .500, you wouldnt even notice. Its an extreme small sample and at a time of the season where you are paying very close attention to see if your moves paid off. worry not, man, that team is loaded - i wouldnt be surprised if you ran off a couple of nice streaks and finished with 105+ wins.

Small sample size. Awesome team.

You’re stacked. One critique is Ray in the bullpen. I’d bring up someone with more stamina even if vR = 60.

I just traded for Yamaico Bong to upgrade my 3B spot. I believe that was my last weakness. I really like our team now come playoff time, but I’m still worried we won’t make it. I’m worried my settings or something are off, would that effect it that much? If anyone notices something let me know.

I’d love to see your lineup. I see so many teams that fail because they have good players but their lineup is all wrong. Your number 1’s goal is to get on base and not clog up the bases. 2 is debatable. Some people say best player but I say 2 is almost a carbon copy of 1. 3 through 5 is power, 7 and 8 is your defence in the field (9 for me is the pitcher) sometimes changing the lineup or making sure your pitch counts are right can make the difference

Sabermetric advice says 1,2,4 should be your best 3 players. In descending ratio of OBP to slug. 3 and 5 should be your next best players with more OBP at 3 and Slug at 5. Then descending talent from 6-9 except try to have more OBP at 9, so usually worst OBP at 8.
