Fatigue and stolen bases? Topic

Is fatigue for batters based solely on ABs, or do other things (like SBs) increase their fatigue? I have a quick team so I set them for aggressive base running. They're stealing a ton but seem to be awfully fatigued just 15 games in, so I wonder if I should pull back on their aggressiveness?

Based solely on PA with a max of 6 per game.
Ironically, aggressive baserunning is good for stamina. You'll make more Outs on the bases and therefore won't use up as many PA. One of the tricks for getting out of serious fatigue is to turn your runners loose so they make lots of outs.

I am a fan of aggressive baserunning. Not as big a fan of stolen bases as I once was. I got schooled by a team of base runners who didn't steal. They scored plenty of runs, and didn't run into outs. I no longer spend money on stolen bases, just speed.

Schwarze and I wondered what the guy was doing with his settings. He finally said his strategy was to avoid running into unnecessary outs via the stolen base. For him it worked well.

All those A+ arms are killing the base stealers. And high scoring games. Extra bases are a better gamble in low scoring games. I don't like to play for 1 run when my offense is designed to score 6 runs.

That's one team. Is there a history of this strategy working? I've tried high speed teams which performed no better than my standard teams. It's hard to evaluate the effects of speed. There are no stats for how many extra bases taken, at what %success, and how often does speed prevent a double play? Poring through each boxscore is a tedious and unreliable technique.

There's nothing more than anecdotal evidence, but I generally don't let people steal unless their real life success rate was very very high. At the same time, I prioritize speed when drafting

Hey oz, I'm trying a high speed team in our X-man rotation league. They lead the league in scoring. If this continues maybe I'll reevaluate my priorities.

Playing a 1992 season replay, and I have the Brewers. Running them ragged just like Phil Garner did in RL. Off to a 17-7 start and just from checking box scores it feels like it's helped more than hurt, but, yah ... it's hard to say. I'll probably pull back a bit vs. strong-armed catchers.
