Record Arb Demand? Topic

Ugueth Perez is a hell of a player, has been on the MVP ballot every full season he's been in the majors and is the reigning MVP. His arb demand is $14.8M. It doesn't matter-- I'm going to long-term him anyway-- but has anyone ever seen a higher arb demand than that?

There was another thread about this a while back. I'll try to find it. I believe someone posted a guy asking for about $19M.

I couldn't find it.

Willing to bet that this guy wanted quite a bit. He is the best player I have ever seen in HBD. I guess I will never know though cause an owner came in and signed him long term during Arb1.

And to think, two years ago was his peak and he was rated 99 overall.

I believe arbitration numbers fluctuate by league. It has something do with what free agents sign for. So a league with a bunch of hig paid free agents will cause the arbitration asks to go up

I'm pretty sure arbitration is strictly based on overall now, but I could be wrong.

Normally this is the kind of thing that I'd suspect "you're just guessing" or "there's no way they bothered to program that"... but based on the worlds I play in, you might be onto something.

I recently had Neal Hartman ask for $20M in his arb3 season. He signed long term for $12.5M/season instead.

Hartman and Rienzo are like plague and pestilence. Yeesh. Hartman picked fourth in the draft. Must have been a killer pool.

I think it was in a developer's chat way back. It stuck in my mind.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong thing, but did you sign him as an IFA for $4.5M?

You are not misreading it. That's incredible! I'm going to guess that he was signed late in the season when most people are out of money, but still incredible.

This is correct... I was the only one who saw him who had money left.
