Is this guy THAT bad of a SS he would make 41 errors in 102 games?

Well, he's a Left Fielder playing Shortstop. That's about it.

Yes. He has 72 and 74 GL and AA ratings where ratings that led to a normal number of errors are 85 each. His range and AS are almost adequate, which is why he only has 9 (-) plays. But as for errors, he's just about that bad.

That set of defensive ratings will play anywhere on the diamond except SS, CF, and C. The bat, however, plays only at SS, CF, and C.

Fair enough. He's now up to 43 errors in 103 games.
