Immed after the draft, I brought this 18 yr old rookie to the bigs and skipped the minors entirely based on my need at the position and my thought that he will develop more efficiently under big league coaching with a full time playing role. In the meantime he has posted monster numbers for the half season he has played. Unfortunately, he does not qualify as a statistical leader among rookies because he does not have enough at-bats. Has anyone else ever had this situation and will the system instead recognize him as a rookie next year for a shot at ROY? I think not, but curious to ask...

He should still be under rookie status next season.

No, he won't. He has more than 130 AB, which is both the major league and HBD threshold. In the very beginning of HBD it was coded wrong, so anyone with less than a full year of service was a rookie, which led to one of my players (world died, so I can't link) winning back-to-back rookie of the year awards. But they fixed that a while ago.
