Spring Training Settings Topic

Hi, I am new to HBD and spring training is approaching. I know that I don't want/need my ML players taking all the innings and ABs, so how do I make sure that they get a fair amount of appearances, but while also making sure that my prospects and bench players get a lot of appearances as well? My guess as to what I should do is keep my starting lineup the same, but change the pinch-hitting settings to very aggressive, and change the player rest settings to the 4th inning up or down by 1 run. As for pitching, I read somewhere that you should make your rotation a tandem rotation with your ML starters as the first part of the tandem and your prospects are the second part of each tandem, and your other prospects go in the bullpen along with you ML relievers. How do I limit their innings though? Any advice or suggestions for spring training controls would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I set def replacement at 1 in the 7th; winning/losing by 1 in the 4th. I tandem my starter p's, and put all RP at SUA. I bench all ML at: pos players get b/w 15-20 AB's, SP's at 3 app, and RP at 3 inn.

I put my Starters/Veterans in the lineups for the first three games and the last three games of ST. The 12 games in between, they all move to the Rest section on my Lineups screens, and the Minor Leaguers play the entirety of those games. Same thing with my SP rotation... My Top Five start the first five games and the last five games. In between they sit out completely. And I bounce the relievers in and out depending on who's thrown the least. No one ever pitches two games in a row.

This is similar to what I do.

That's almost EXACTLY what I do, as well.

Can you explain why you do first 3 games and last 3 games?

Kind of arbitrary but it gets them between 10
and 15 ABs.

Regardless of any other AB or app, I bench ALL ML with 3 games left in ST. Maybe means nothing, maybe means something but I don't want a ML getting a late ST injury. Usually all ML pos are on bench by 7th/8th ST game, and the P's are on the bench by 10th-12th ST game.

The real trick, is remembering to reset your game settings at end of ST. I've played the first few regular season games with starters coming out in the 4th inning. On those occasions i feel like a dumb@ss.
