So I bombed recruiting and needed a 4th big for my NYU (d3) team. I had no scouting money left and said F'it, I am signing this dude at level one.

He signs this morning, and I am checking on my phone, scrolling down slowly. He looks like this:

ATH: 69 RED (ok, I will take that!)
Speed: 17 BLUE (solid)
Rebound: 77 orange (again solid)
DEF: 44 Green (I can work with this)
Block: 65 Green (very nice)
LP: 37 Green (YES!)
Per: 12 blue (whatever)
BH: 31 yellow (that's fine for d3)
Pass: 11 black (not a problem)
and then...........
WE: 1

I went from being the smartest guy in the room to an idiot....no wonder no one was on him until me on the last day.

It could be worse. It's still a mostly-empty conference. You can start him for 15 games off the bat, he's good enough against the sims. Get his WE up enough to break even for his career and he's a passable backup big. He'll never develop that offense, but maybe you can grow him into an average defender, and he's already an average rebounder.

My feelings as well.

The bigs on the east coast were awful this season. I had to take some questionable bigs as well

Well, my idiot of the week award to myself is awarded because during my 1st D3 recruiting period, I'm thinking I don't think D1 players will fall to me, so I used almost all my scouting money on D2 players and then when the 1st recruiting period is almost over I realize how many D1 players are undecided and don't have enough money to scout many of them and end up with players who will be very good D3 players but not good enough to challenge for a sweet 16. And I ended up signing 3 of my 5 scholarships who are solid D2 level players and 2 somewhat decent D1 level players. could have been worse, but could have been a lot better.

but... at least I will be better prepared for my next recruiting season when I'll have another 5 openings.

It's like impossible to improve a 1 WE past about 4. I think it takes 35 starts to get it from 1-2 and then another another 25 or so to get it to 3. i jacked up his DEF minutes (25ish) but I don't think I will see more than 12 or so total points in that area over 4 years. He ain't awful but he would have been a stud with a WE of like 50, hell even 10!

If you take a blind stab late in recruiting and wind up with "not awful"...

I think that's a win.

Always see a good amount of players in the recruiting pool with great ratings but F/F- WE.

Have only had to play Russian roulette once so far, got really lucky:
