Recruiting after Taking over a D1 school Topic

While jumping into recruiting during the second session is it worth trying to recruit a player already considering a D1 or D2 school that already has a scholarship offer? Or should I stick to guys who are I recruited or considering a D3 school only?

If the player has an early or end of period 1 signing preference, don’t bother. They’ll sign the first cycle of the second session (if it’s a D1 school on them, they’d have already signed, unless that team had already filled scholarships - then you have to see if they have maybe lost an early entry, or might cut a guy).

If it’s a late session guy, *maybe*. Some of those hold out for a while. But some sign right away, so it’s a crap shoot.

IMO, if you take over a D1 school, you have two ok options this first season. First, either scour for jucos - including scouting D2 CA or TX - that can keep you afloat, and turn over quickly. Or second, pinpoint two or 3 late signees, and hope at least one (preferably more than one) holds off long enough to join the battle, and plan to take a walkon or 3. The big thing is, make sure you don’t have more than 6 open scholarships next year, because then you’ll be losing value, as you can only get resources for 6 open scholarships.

There are sometimes value/high potential D2 Intl's

I spent hours last night scouring the recruiting pool for decent recruits. Scouting was completely done for all International players and most players within 500 miles. I had enough scouting money to scout every player within 500 miles that had C or better WE. And then I was able to scout half the recruits between 500 and 1000 miles with C or better WE. I found a few players that look to be useful pieces and look to fill my quota of 6 freshmen... then get a couple JUCOs/Transfers to finish off a 9 player class. Not sure how well it will turn out, but I need to get the players first.

Oh that feeling when you discover a player with potential to be an amazing player who is not offered by anyone but to get him you would have to give up a position of great need to add him.

I usually only go after 1 or 2 recruits depending on how many scholarships I have. That way you can dump a ton of AP on them to unlock "offer scholarship" and home visits ASAP. I feel like a large majority of the late preference recruits will sign within the first 2 or 3 cycles of period 2. If you're only spending 20 AP on a recruit, you might not unlock scholarship offers until the 2nd cycle.
