I just signed a new plus-defense SS to a long-term deal on my San Diego team. He's made 16 errors in 41 games. His career high is 18 in 154 games. Am I just unlucky or is there something I'm missing??

Sounds like you need to fire the head of your field crew. I think you're just getting unlucky.

Players will play to there ratings always. Not sure what his previous ratings were but he is 32 years old. His ratings have likely dropped if not they will soon not a good idea to lock him up beyond this season. Poor hitting def ss's should come fairly inexpensively in trade, rule v or sometimes fa or waiver wire.

His range dropped from 87 to 85 due to injury 2 seasons ago. I've got 20/20 so I don't expect him to fall into dangerous range territory until season after next.

Agree with the above. The good news is that since he got a lot of the errors out of the way already, he may have a stellar rest of the season at the position.
