Longest Win Streaks in HD History Topic

This is my 4th thread of the day, but I’m curious... what’re the longest win streaks in HD history? I just had a 69 (very nice) game win streak in Phelan and I’ve looked around a bit and can’t find back to back undefeated title seasons. Anyone find any?

You've got me beat. I've got a 64 game streak in Wooden which should soon end in the tourney.

I think joeykw18 won about 100 in a row in his run at Vermont. I went back to back undefeated at cal tech but I think 70 was my win streak. In a different type if winning streak, from seasons 85 through 125 at cal tech I made the title game 16 times and won all 16, which I have to believe is a record that will stand for a long time, but don't know for sure. I also had a streak of 41 straight first round wins from season 91 through 131 first round wins at cal tech. So I'll ask, what is the longest win streak you have in a certain round of the tournament?

16-16 in title games for a stretch is AMAZING! I lost my first title game I appeared in, but then won 7 straight. I wondered if 7-1 was one of the better ratios in HD at the time. But not with a streak like you had, being around! Wow

My claim to fame, I've mentioned I wanted to win a title in every 1x world. And I'm at 6/7 now. Now I'd like to expand that to winning a title in all 10 worlds. But I haven't started my 2x mission yet. I'm terrible at 2x because of the afternoon game. I never look at game planning until night time. So I'll really have to adjust my routine to pull off all 10 worlds.

I have won with every set tho. And I did that pretty early on (my 6th title completed the cycle I think). I feel that's a nice accomplishment because it's tough to have multiple teams with multiple sets, and recruit the right players for each one to be successful.

You haven’t won with zone though, right? And 16-16 is incredible! Wow.

Correct. I meant offense actually. Leave it to bulls to shade accomplishments. My error for not being politically correct.

I meant offense (but as far as defense, I only play man and press, that's correct)

I’ve gotta keep dog humble. It’s basically my job.

i guess ive got that going for me and never even really thought about it. i havent won very many titles but have won with every set.
when i won with zone i felt i won in spite of it. same with fastbreak. but maybe that was me just being a whiny bleep.

Way back when, Lostmyth put together back-to-back 35-0 championship seasons. I can't remember if it was D2 or D3 though. I've checked the worlds I'm in and I don't believe it's any of those, unless I just overlooked it.

I've also got the "won with every O and D" to my name thing going for me. Been a long while since I've actually won anything though (took a long break from HD).

at one point i maintained the NT win streak lists but its been so many years, maybe one of these days i'll resurrect that. wouldn't address regular season wins though. i agree that lostmyth had back to back 35-0 seasons, but i don't know where.

that 16 straight conversions of title games is a pretty crazy stat, i can't imagine anyone has that beat. considering how many programs piman runs, that is sort of amazing. i could see it with 1 or 2 programs perhaps, with an intense focus, but not across a whole boatload of them. that's crazy!

i don't know how one could categorize it, but i sort of always felt the thing i've done that was least likely to be reproduced was how quickly i had d1 dominance under my belt. i got to d1 not very quickly, i took my time in d3, i think it was 6-8 seasons. but still, i got there as still a rookie - i had picked up other teams by then, like a few, so i might have had been close to 20 seasons already, but i am pretty sure i was still sweet 16-less (the s16 was an initial wall for me).

like everyone, my intro to d1 recruiting was an unmitigated disaster. but after 4 seasons at a mid major i picked up on a d+ (i think), and then 2 on a C prestige BCS, i won 5 titles in 9 seasons. so my first 15 lifetime d1 seasons had 5 titles, starting on a d+. i could see like, a d2 super coach jumping straight to a solid BCS program and winning 5 in 15 seasons, but even that i find pretty unlikely. this was also back in the days when high d1 teams / conferences were insanely advantaged in recruiting, but also worlds were full and competitive - only once before had a coach ever won 5 d1 titles in 10 seasons, and that was when tark was brand spanking new (by oldresorter), which is a bit of an edge case. just to win that 1st title on C recruited players was considered a minor miracle. i definitely consider that my #1 accomplishment, and least likely to be matched, even though the bar for doing so is so much lower now. dogg - its someone like you who could put that 5 titles in 15 d1 seasons to the test!

Not a chance! Although I appreciate the vote of confidence. But I'm good at D2 because I find the right people, I play nice with others, and I don't battle, or like to battle. At D1 there's tons of battles and I'd lose my mind. I recently posted here during a discussion that I was like 0-7 or 0-8 in my recent rolls..... I'm up to 0-10. I want NO part of that sir!

You’re right he won 101 straight. Lost in the Sweet 16 the season he had a loss then went undefeated again the next season. He went 136-1 with 3 titles in a 4 season stretch.

i probably should learn to read. 16 straight title wins at 1 school is still insane but definitely not how i read it. the most consecutive appearances in nt1, nt2, nt3 etc - those were part of what i was tracking, there's like 5 year old data on that if you look in the forums for 'dynasty list index'. of course a bunch of it has been broken by now but it at least puts a floor on the record. i went to update these one night during 3.0 but the login mechanics changed so much i had to do work to make it log in and 20m wasn't sufficient to make any progress so i gave up. hopefully some day..

looks like the most recent run is just over 4 years old?
