Lower defensive standards in Rookie ball Topic

I know the idea of this game getting a patch or update ever again is kinda laughable at this point but ah hell why not

There should be a sliding scale for defense at the lowest minor league levels. Guys with even 65+ gloves are hard to find and play at SS, and the result is an embarrassing defensive stat line for guys, lots of extra pitches thrown and pitchers burned, and a higher possibility of injury. Make it so that a lower level of defensive rating can play a passable bit of defense in Rookie ball, and maybe we can avoid some of that.

But do other, more important things first.

I don't understand the reasoning
I mean I get you have a lot more errors which could lead to more pitcher fatigue, but that's realistic imo.

The lower the glove rating the more errors.

Somehow skewing that for poor rookie defenders seems illogical.

Go to a real Rookie league game and guess what. You're going to see more errors, more pitchers getting used. Why? Because they're not as good. That's why rookie ball allows 30 roster spots instead of 25.

Didn't really expect to get replies to this but since I did get one:
  • I keep seeing this game get compared to real life when it doesn't mirror real baseball anymore. No pitchers strikeout 10 per 9 IP when that's now a regular thing in real life, the FA comp system is ancient by this point, and asking this game to stay faithful to real baseball when it hasn't for actual years just isn't a fair standard
  • I had a LowA SS with a 74 glove rating make 42 errors last season. That's a way better rating than most players would have at that level, and there aren't enough free agents who are bad enough hitters for everyone to have that good a defender on their rosters
We just need to stop measuring this game against real life. Why would it be a bad thing to go easier on defensive ratings at lower levels? Why would it be bad to try and spare ridiculously high-scoring or long games where injuries could happen? We're at apples and oranges right now
I tend to agree here. One of those things that you don’t necessarily have to follow real life in exchange for the convenience of running the lower level teams.

It does seem like +/- is adjusted for level, but I’m not entirely sure how much it’s adjusted for glove/AA. I know most guys start the farthest away from their final ratings in glove/AA, so that probably doesn’t help things lol.

Very small sample size here, but the 2019 Pioneer League (rookie) averaged about 1.3 errors per game per team. I looked at my rookie level last year and the the league average was about 1.5 errors per game per team, not as much as I thought (that’s with a team or two who ignored their rookie level). I’m actually pretty surprised how close those were.
