2011 Live Draft Keeper FULL! Topic

We have just completed a very successful first season (2010) and are preparing for the 2011 season.

When you sign up, please let me know:
1. Which available ballpark you want, and
2. The 5 players from your roster that you want to keep for 2011.

After each owner selects his 5 keepers, we will prepare for our 2011 Live Draft (25 rounds). The draft order for our live draft will be determined by the total 2011 salary of each owner's 5 keepers. The owner with the smallest total salary of his keepers will have the first draft pick, the second lowest total salary will have the second pick, etc. This will also be a snake-style draft format. After the 2011 live draft, our 5 keepers will be added to our rosters (for a maximum of 30 players per team roster).

After the 2011 regular season ends, we will each select 5 keepers (the 2012 version), and prepare for the 2012 season. I am planning to run 3 seasons per calendar year, so our league will continue till our draft year catches up to the current year (around 2024).

DETAILS:

When signing up, each owner will select an available present-day ballpark. For simplicity, we will use the current 30 MLB ballparks for the 2011 season.

- $100 million salary cap (most teams will be between $70-$90 million).
- AL teams will use a DH; NL teams will not.
- No clones.
- Yes trades.
- No transaction deadline.

LIVE DRAFT:
- Snake-style draft format
- 10 minute rounds
- 3 picks per day (double picks for rounds 18-25)

Thank you for joining, and good luck!

Here are the answers to several questions I have received regarding our keepers, our draft, and our 2011 rosters:

1. Can we have fewer than 5 keepers?

No, every team will have exactly 5 keepers.

2. Does a player on IL count as a keeper?

Yes, if you want to keep a player who does not have a WIS season the following year, he will count as one of your 5 keepers. For example, if you want to keep Stephen Strasburg for 2011, you are allowed 4 other players to keep. Strasburg will count as $0 towards your keeper salary total.

3. How is our live draft order determined?

The draft order is determined by ordering the team 2011 keeper salaries from lowest to highest. For example, if the lowest keeper salary for a team is $18 million and the highest is $40 million, then the team with the $18 million keeper salary will have the first draft pick, the next highest salary picks next, and so on till the team with the $40 million salary, who makes the last pick.

4. Is our live draft a snake-style or traditional format?

We will have a snake-style draft format.

5. Will we have AAA players in 2011?

We will not use AAA players in 2011.

6. How big will our rosters be?

We will have a total of up to 30 players.

Our 2011 Live Draft will give each of us 25 players. The 5 keepers on each of our teams will be blacklisted for this draft. After the draft, our keepers will be added to our rosters, giving each of us up to 30 total players (some owners will have fewer due to players on IL). I am still working with WIS Support to work out how we can fill out the empty roster slots if a team has an IL player. My guess is that they will put in a randomly generated AAA player, which will not be allowed to be used during the season.

7. Can we trade draft picks?

Yes, we can trade draft picks during the season or off-season.

8. Can we switch stadiums next year?

Yes, you may switch stadiums.

All original owners will have priority on which stadiums they would like to keep (or change to). New owners will get to pick from the remaining stadiums.

Unless you tell me otherwise, I will assume that you want to keep the same stadium that you had the previous season.
