2. Even if there’s a slight risk that he gets into a game and thwarts your plan, getting the scholarship resources for the extra year is worth it. If you redshirt him at the start of the season, you won’t get those resources.
3. Nor will it let you redshirt the seventh in a class, so if you have 6 rising juniors, you won’t be able to redshirt a senior.
4. Since EEs declare right after the championship game, the system will go with your roster as it stands at that point. Another reason you don’t want to put the redshirt on him until after they’ve declared, ie the last day of the season, after the championship game.
