Ballparks + effects Topic

I have a question regarding ball parks and the effects they supposedly have.
I understand why these effects happen in real baseball, however, I'm confused if they're actually playing into the sim.
What's confusing me is that they've put in all of this effort to give the dimensions and +/- effects of every ball park, however, it states "These numbers are just indicators of the relative effect in the simulation engine. They are important for users and founded entirely on historical fact, but are meant for display purposes and not explicitly used in the simulation game" - quote from help menu …. what in heck does that mean lol.

Second, in the help bar it references whether the surface of the field is grass (G) or turf (T). I don't see any rating anywhere that shows whether your diamond is grass or turf. I'm sure you could just look it up. Just curious why a rating is being referenced which appears to not be expressed within the game.

Thanks.

The park factors definitely are active within the game. There is a HUGE difference between Colorado and LA.

I play in two of the more extreme pitcher's parks. The park factors are definitely in play. The dimensions they give are just meant to give you a real-life representation and mental image of how the park looks. What they're saying is kind of "don't take the measurements literally." What matters is the +/- effects.

the note listed in the OP is under the "effects" portion of the help menu, not the "dimensions", so it is definitely in regards to the ballpark effects. At best, it is misleading, at worst it is flat out wrong. I believe very strongly that the +/- ratings are a heavy modifier on the simulation engine. the overall park effect number, i.e. 1.000 for a neutral park, has literally zero impact on the engine. that is what I believe they are indicating when they say it is for general display purposes.
