Anyone else please disagree, but I don't think any of us usually discuss those things as impacting hitting performance, other than Temper factoring into hit by pitches.
Makeup usually factors into the player's development of skills when young, and decay of skills when old. Also recovery from injury; and many say likelihood of becoming a good possible Diamond in the Rough.
Patience factors into the player's willingness to stay with a team or seek free agency, and also has a bonus ability to avoid demotion penalty.
When it comes to my batting order I mostly go with on base percentage.
Agree. Just a couple of quick clarifications:
1) I don't think makeup has much to do with odds of getting a DitR-- but I do think it affects the magnitude of the ratings gain if the player gets one.
2) Low temper in a hitter-- below about 30-- is correlated with a high number of HBP, and it's potentially very high; the impact on OBP of temper = 0 is about equal to the impact of increasing eye by about 20 points.
