I am advised not to trust the recommendations of "Sparky" pertaining to almost everything. Do you guys also not trust the default for TPC and MPC ? Is the default to conservative? Thanks ! I am having a problem finding the right mix.

Sparky sucks at his recommendations. 15 pitches per inning is a good starting point.

You need to find your starting pitchers actual IP/G. A guy that has an actual 5.60 can't go deep into games, so don't expect him to. 5 innings I would set 75 to 80. Adjust as necessary.

Relievers 40 innings and under i never go past 15 max. A 25-30 inning guy I set 5 to 10. Maybe 10 to 10.

Your innings available I set to ANY, except the closer A I set to 9th.

I set SP on 2 for pull setting.
Mop on 1, high or max pitch count
Relievers perhaps 2 or 3. Trial and error.

We have covered this and much more in the pinned threads. I still refer back to them...

I'd advise against putting the mop up on 1, especially if you haven't checked the use mop up only when losing box. At 1 you run the risk of the mop-up being left in to blow a 10+ run lead.

Even if you're only using the mop up when losing, in the unlikely event you mount a miracle comeback, you don't want the mop up to stay in any longer. If you set the mop-up at 3 Sparky won't take him out if the game stays a blowout unless you have more than one mop-up available, which you probably don't.

Unless I have a lot of extra IP on my roster, I almost always set my starters to 1 pull setting. I want them to throw as close to the full number of pitches per start I have allocated for them. If you get a run of starters pulled early in the game, especially early in the season, it can really tax your bullpen. Even at 1 though, Sparky will still pull your starter early sometimes if he's getting shelled.

One feature I wish WIS would add is a "Do not pull this guy before his max pitch count under any circumstances" setting, it would make fatigue management a lot easier.

Yes please do set Mop to pitch only when losing, otherwise Sparky will use him much more frequently, depending on your level of fatigue.

With the exception of short inning or IP/G pitchers in Tandem A slots (minimum is 40 and I only want them throwing 25, so I put them up to a 4-5 pull), I put all my pitchers (including mop ups) on a Pull 1 setting. I like to control their PC as much as possible and this is the only way to exert that type of control. If a game is already a blow out, I'd rather save my pitches from my other pitchers and let my mopup go the distance. If I comeback and still lose because of that, oh well. Fatigue management is important and controlling pitch counts is the key to that.

Great insight, thanks all
