For those of you that are using exclusively 3-4 was wondering what formation sets you use against the run? Do you put 1-2 of your LB on the line? Do you blitz with LB or DB? I would imagine a lot of this would have to depend if they are running inside/outside or both and how deep they are throwing and who they are throwing to.

Just wondering from those that have been successful with the 3-4 what your thought process was in making these decisions. I'm doing a a couple of re-builds using the 3-4, so I haven't quite closed the talent gap in some of these teams, just trying to hone in my game planning skills a bit more as my teams start to slowly close the gap.

That is what i use for my 3-4 Base Defense on 1st and 2nd down, considering the I formation is not listed as a running formation. However i am extremely new to the game.

Thanks guys. I've been putting 1 or 2 LB on the line. I've thought about putting all 4 LB on the line before. But my question is does this lead to more long td runs, if the RB breaks a tackle at the line of scrimmage, my concern was that there wouldn't be much after that and leading to long td runs. Part of this is admittedly not knowing exactly how the engine handles this.

Do you think this will work better when I have teams that have similar or better ratings than my opponents, meaning there's less likely of a chance for RB to break tackles. Just thinking out loud here... Thanks again for your thoughts.

Strangely enough, everything seems to work better when your personnel is superior to that of your opponent.

Or better yet, you all can just give me the "cheat code" and we can avoid all of this nonsense... lol.. I know it starts out something like. UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT....

when running my 3-4 D I very often use a 7 man front line.....and then change it up depending on my opponents style of play. I recommend trying a 4-4 with your 3-4 ...its killer against the run game and formations that only use one wide out (wishbone, ND box)

Can we do a set up to maybe say run a mock-up 3 3 5 stack? I know the formation isn't in the game, but can we move stuff around? I love to bring the heat from all positions.

I think I made a mock-up using the 3 4 and putting an extra LB into coverage and blitz. 3 linemen, 3 lb on line and 4 DBS, and one lb in coverage. all on random blitz %. I am a student of the Great Joe Lee Dun. heh heh

Yeah, a long lost player just returning. I know what I want to be running and how it needs to run, but this new stuff is confusing me. lol, I think I put together a nice little 4-3 package with the N D M for passing formations and situations. I have 5 seasons to see if the team can learn the formation and execute it well and if D 3 is ready for some Joe Lee Dunn action. lol, Ill either force turn over or give up plays. Ha

Sounds like you would like to try different fronts and play around with different pressure packages. If that's the case, div 3 is not the place to do it. You are really handcuffed at that level.
