Flunked the quarter now what? Topic

For the the first time in 100 seasons, I had a player declared academically ineligible.....even considering he was pumped up to 10 minutes of study hall mid term...what is the protocol now? How much study time does he need to make sure he is available next season?

Once ineligible, just put all of his available practice time in study hall. Putting them anywhere else is fruitless and will produce no gains.

I thought I would update this as we start the new season.....I did NOT put all minutes into study hall...I put 20 minutes there and balanced the rest out on his disciplines. The player gained three points the rest of the season on his disciplines and came back eligible for the beginning of this season that will just start tomorrow. I thought I would share this info because sometimes even the best of coaches might learn something from a middling coach like me. He gained 12 additional points in the off season.

just for the record, the 'put all minutes in SH' applies to academic non qualifier recruits ONLY. and only in their first season. do not ever 0 players who fail grades - they still practice, they still need those minutes. the only players who do not practice (and thus, their practice plan is irrelevant - putting all in SH does nothing - old wives tale - although i still do it myself) are the academic non qualifier recruits. this is why you can put all practice minutes into SH.

going with a good amount but not overwhelming amount of SH is usually the answer, 10-20 is probably reasonable.

thanks for sharing smack! i'm a little surprised this one went unchecked by the community, this is a fairly known, non-controversial topic.

good input from both. I had never heard anything different regarding academic non qualifier vs failed grades.
