They seem to be in every open league together and their teams are never good. What's their story, anyone know?

Are they like automated WIS bots? (Takes off tinfoil hat)

They also seem trade a lot of AAA amongst each other.

I don't wanna assume the worst as I usually join leagues with my brother just4me. But I won't lie and say those names haven't raised my eyebrows a little bit

I think they're just a couple of people enjoying running some theme teams in OL. jonjoerob's teams are all single-franchise and bru081668 are all single-season franchise teams. Not the best options for winning OLs, but could be fun nonetheless. Shoot, most of the teams I enter into OLs aren't any good.

jonjoe has like 80 active teams - whoa. But hey, hope he's having fun - and certainly keeping revenue flowing to the site.

I've always assumed jonjoerob was three brothers or friends forming a single team. As noted above, they like to draft ready-made single franchise teams. When I look at all the work I put into teams that just as often as not go off the rails, I think they may have the right idea. They almost won one of our leagues recently with a good Dodger team. They seem to be having fun, they're good trading partners and it all seems 100% innocent & above board to me.

Yeah, I definitely didn't mean to imply anything shady was happening. I just noticed they were always in the same league and ran out the same kind of teams. I was just curious if they were WIS bot teams helping to fill out leagues or accumulate stats for different players or something. Which, I admit, is a bit farfetched.

Site mail and ask them. Could be just for silly fun.

Came here to ask the same thing. They gotta be bots or they’re just burning money for no reason. This is as opposed to me who’s burning money here for a sense of accomplishment I can’t share with anyone.

I have wondered this since joining the site. In addition to being in every open league I have been in, they also are invariably the first two to join the league. I have always assumed that they are bots.

I’ve beat them to a few OLs. You can only have one team in an OL, so if you enter several quickly they fill up new leagues. Shoot, I have the only team in 4 champs leagues. Back in my WIS heyday I used to run around 70 active teams at a time. Many others ran that or more.

OLs fill fast enough, there’s no reason to have a bot filling teams, especially since most aren’t competitive. WIS takes OL competitiveness very serious. It’s a reason for many decisions that I personally haven’t agreed with (champ league default, fatigue model stop gaps, etc) and even them stating concerns about my bounties upsetting competitiveness when I first asked if they cared if I ran them.

So I highly doubt their bots, besides they aren’t on every OL, I’ve been in a few missing 1 of each and even one recently without either.

Ah, I didn't realize that about OLs. So probably not bots after all. Likely just folks with a very different attitude toward competition than anyone I know (or even those I don't -- I'm willing to wager that at least some of the 70 teams you ran in your WIS heyday were not among the very worst teams in their respective leagues).
