So last night in D2 Phelan an oddity may have transpired.

Final Four

I made zero FT’s and combined we made 4.

Anyone ever had or seen a team get 0 FTM?

The D2 Phelan tourney is truly the 2020 of tournaments.

Luckily the Rockhurst players aren't as handsy as their coach.

I’ve never seen FTs quite that low in a game, but I can contribute a frustrating oddity from the foul line. In Rupp conference play (thankfully against mostly bad teams so far) my team is shooting:

FG: 58%
3PT: 55%
FT: 52%

That’s wild! What’s the teams overall FT grade?

Team is a “C” overall with only 1 of my top 7 at C- (none below). This morning’s 4-15 FT game didn’t help. I guess I should start considering the FT rating during recruiting now.

It’s so tough to recruit with that in mind.

I thought I was done with this topic, but I just lost a game in OT in another world where I went 12-27 from the foul line, including a chance to win with 3 seconds left in regulation (yes, he was a D+ but I would think he can do better than 2-7 for the game).

So I’ll ask, does anyone factor free throw ability into recruiting? I’m seriously tempted to consider this last week of failure.

It isn’t a primary consideration, but it is quite often something like a tiebreaker, especially if he’s going to be a principle scoring option at some point. The difference between D+ and B+ could be a point per game or more for some types of players, so it isn’t meaningless.
