Legitimate complaints about preferences Topic

Here are two of mine.

1) “strong defense” needs a SOS modifier, way too many top schools scheduling a cupcake non-conference and being rewarded with a “strong defense” rating.
2) too few “fast tempo” preference players. At D1, I find less than a handful annually. Why have the preference if it isn’t as frequent as the others?

Others?

I think #1 is a non-issue imho.

Re: fast tempo preference. I think there should maybe be two slots for play style preferences? Like why not have players who prefer a fast tempo & a strong perimeter offense? That or straight up separate tempo. Why are there no players who prefer slowdown?

If it is true that “paint offense” is merely the percentage of non-3FGA, that is by far the least intelligent style preference, IMO. Though the strong defense preference is pretty blatantly gameable.

I’d like to see a “crash boards” vs “defend perimeter” preference, basically representing the tendency a coach has to set defense + or - defensively.

I think you threw in academics just to appease mom and dad

I agree on the slowdown comment.

If you have perimeter vs paint why not fast vs slow?

How about a preference for getting kids drafted into the NBA? Or is that part of the success preference? I would think that would be one of the more realistic preferences and would help coaches that are getting killed by EE's.

That’s one of my very-long-standing suggestions, along with an academic preference. I think there are creative ways to meld them into the same preference, if desired. Both concepts would add a lot to the game, I think. I left them out here, because of the “play style” topic, but I obviously support the idea generally.

My pet suggestion in the style of preferences would be "pipelines" - recruit a kid from a certain high school and for two seasons you get a boost at that school

Recruit a kid in a small geographic area - lets say an area that averages apx 20 recruits each season - and you get a boost in that area (cant say "in a state" because that would equate California and Alaska.....

I want to be able to build a pipeline from Des Moines or Puerto Rico or Lithuania

How about stop generating recruits that want a rebuild AND a long time coach LMAO

Why wouldn't you want to play for a proven loser?

Another idea: perhaps incorporate homecourt advantage into preferences? Players may prefer to play for a passionate home crowd.
