I thought I understood Auto Rest, but apparently I don't.

I usually maneuver my rotation so no one starts below my Auto Rest (standardly at 90) unless I want them to (Silver King, etc.). I forgot today and left a SP in to start at 79. I assumed he would, you know, automatically rest. He started at 79 anyway. What am I missing?

The Manager Settings page says this: "Auto Rest: If a player's % is below his Auto Rest value on game day, he will automatically be removed from the lineup and will not play in the game (defaults values are from your User Settings) "

The FAQ says this: " When a pitcher or position player's stamina falls below the number you specified in the advanced settings, the player is treated as though you had marked him as 'rest'. When his stamina goes back above that number, he's again treated according to the role you set for him."

Possibly what happened was that all your other eligible starting pitchers were also below their auto rest settings. Someone had to start the game.

This is usually the reason that occurs. There were no other starting pitchers available above their respective autorest settings.

What about a SP in a long relief role?

This likely was the case. I would have moved someone from LR into the rotation for him.

thank you.
